Other ways to give

Stocks and Securities

Donations of appreciated stocks and securities are generally tax-deductible – both the stock’s original purchase cost as well as any “paper gain.” You may also be entitled to capital gains relief. Conversely, if you own investments that are worth less than they originally cost, consider selling them and making a charitable gift of the cash proceeds. This will result in a “financial loss” that you may be able to deduct from other taxable income along with the amount of the cash contribution. More information on making a gift of stock.

In-Kind Gifts

Donated goods and services enhance the care that Montgomery Hospice is able to provide to patients and their families, as well as support internal operations. In-kind donations that are most needed include:

  • Printing and photocopying services
  • Meeting space for support groups or educational programs
  • Prepared food for programs and meetings

Workplace Giving

Workplace giving is possible through payroll deduction. Montgomery Hospice partners with Community 1st / America’s Charities to facilitate workplace giving campaigns at area businesses and government agencies. We participate in the Combined Federal Campaign (#85936) and Maryland Charity Campaign for state employees. Our staff would be pleased to help you establish an internal campaign for your organization.

Matching Gifts

Multiply the value of your gift by participating in a “matching gift” program established by your employer. Contact the Human Resources Department at your place of employment to learn if such a program is offered.

Pledged Gifts

A pledged gift provides the donor with the flexibility of making a gift at a future date or incrementally over the course of time. Pledges may be directed toward specific campaign initiatives or toward the areas of greatest need. Make a pledge now.
