Helping people live out their lives in dignity and comfort in their own homes is Montgomery Hospice and Prince George’s Hospice’s core service. Living safely and comfortably at home can be one of the best ways of supporting quality of life at the end of life.

Members of the Montgomery Hospice and Prince George’s Hospice team come to visit Hospice at Home patients wherever they live. This includes single-family homes and apartments, as well as extended care facilities, assisted living centers or nursing homes.

If a patient has severe symptoms that cannot be managed at home, a short stay at Casey House, our acute-care inpatient facility, can help resolve the crisis.

  • We help people who are nearing the end of their lives.
  • We care for the entire family, not just the patient. We continue to support the family of a patient after the patient’s death.
  • Hospice patients who have Medicare Part A coverage do not pay any bills for hospice services. See more about payment coverage
  • When patients choose hospice, they can keep their own doctor.
  • Patients can continue to take many of the medications that they have been taking.
  • Our care takes place in people’s homes and in nursing homes.
  • People who change their minds about hospice can leave hospice.
  • Some patients improve under hospice care and leave the program.
  • Hospice care is not only for the very last week of someone’s life; patients can receive services for months.
  • Hospice is not limited to six months of care.
  • We welcome calls asking for information at any time.

Hospice at Extended Care Facilities

Montgomery Hospice and Prince George’s Hospice provides care to patients who live in facilities.

Montgomery Hospice and Prince George’s Hospice will care for you wherever you call home. Our specialized hospice team partners with caregivers at nursing homes, assisted living facilities and group homes to bring expert comfort care to our patients and their family members.

Our team approach brings specialized end-of-life care for patients living in facilities. We offer emotional support, including bereavement care, to family and friends of patients in these facilities, as well as to other caregivers.

Additionally, our volunteers are available to patients and families in extended care facilities. Volunteers can run errands or provide companionship to patients and families. Many patients appreciate the comfort provided by Complementary Therapies.
